It is great to always have something to look forward to, which is why we create a mind-map with “3 months of Joy.” It’s a practice we outlined in our book Simplicity Secret.
One of the things we had placed on our mind-map was our intention to go away for one holiday every month. We weren’t sure how long we would keep that up, but it was a great starting point. We’d been away over the last three months, with a mixture of holidays at resorts and staying with a friend. For our fourth month in August, I had no idea what to do.
I wanted an inspiring adventure. To create memories. To experience something I might not usually choose to do. I searched and searched on the internet for hours and came up with nothing. I gave up. I handed it over to the Universe, and asked that the right opportunity come to me.
The Universe delivered…the next morning I received an invitation from Land Rover Defender to come to the Lost Village Festival as a complimentary VIP guest. I felt blessed and gratefully accepted.
We arrived in the afternoon, parking our Defender in the dedicated Defender car park, with all the others. A driver picked us up in a Defender 110 X Plug‑in Electric Hybrid and took us directly to the Defender boutique camp, saving us a walk. It became quickly apparent that they were creating their own unique VIP experience at Lost Village.
They carried our bags to our luxury bell tent and the surprises began. There was a comfy bed with cushions, fluffy blanket and electricity. Defender left delightful and thoughtful goodies to keep, including a gift card to spend at the festival.
Armed with a guide map, we wandered around Lost Village to take in the sights. It is difficult to describe. It is something you have to experience. I could describe it as a four day music and wellness festival in a forest. It’s like a forgotten world, with abandoned treasures like planes, boats and cars in the forest, which you could sit in or dance around. Defender had created a new ‘The Outpost’ stage for artists to entertain the crowds.
People are dressed in the brightest and sparkliest clothes. Sarah decided to use her gift card on a sparkly jacket, to fit in with the vibe.
There’s something for everyone at Lost Village. With multiple stages, you can dance until 2am to bands and DJs. Or for a more calming experience, you can check out the Energy Garden spa for yoga and wellness, or listen to talks or comedy acts at the Institute of Curious Minds. There were so many places to eat and drink, but we didn’t need to go there ourselves as the Defender events team had organised everything.
We went back to the Defender Camp for complimentary cocktails and nibbles, before they chaperoned us to our dining experience hosted by a Michelin star chef.
Then we stood out by the lake, waiting for the light show and entertainment to begin. Afterwards we went back to our glamping bell tent to sleep.
Sarah and I usually wake up early, so we watched the sun rise at the Defender Camp, before taking a shower. Later we had breakfast at the camp and were chaperoned to our complimentary yoga class, and breathwork class following that. Then we went back to our camp for lunch and spent most of the afternoon chatting with other guests at the restaurant or reading in our tent. The Defender festivities began again with cocktails, followed by another delicious dinner. A different parade and light show finished off the event.
The following morning we had breakfast at the camp and then said our farewells. The Defender events team were simply amazing. Always happy and doing whatever they could to help. Lost Village is a surreal experience I can highly recommend too.
But what adventure to go on next month? I have nothing organised at the moment and have left it open to the Universe to decide.
Live your dreams,
Sarah and George 💜
